The Bronx Bombers have a ton of talent prospects in the farm system. Which Yankees prospects deserve a roster spot sooner rather than later?

It’s not often the New York Yankees have a deep farm system. Typically, New York goes after the big-name free agents and hand out multi-million dollar contracts in order to piece together a winning team.

But this isn’t the same Yankees of yesteryear. Yes, the team did ink Aaron Judge to massive extension during the offseason, but not too many fans in the Bronx are going to bemoan the team re-signing the reigning AL MVP.

But there are several Yankees prospects who’ve played well this spring, and it won’t be long before they make it to The Show. Which four Yankees prospects deserve a roster spot soon?

4. Yankees prospects who deserve a roster spot soon: Will Warren, RHP

Even though Carlos Rodon will be sidelined to begin the 2023 season, the New York Yankees have enough depth in their rotation at the moment. Gerrit Cole will undoubtedly get the ball to start Opening Day, and the likes of Nestor Cortes and Luis Severino, Clarke Schmidt, and Domingo German will follow.

But if the Yankees get into trouble, perhaps turning to 2021 draftee Will Warren could help. Warren was an eighth-round selection nearly two years ago, but the 22-year-old made tremendous strides in his first full season in the Yankees farm system.

Warren appeared at both High-A and Double-A last season and posted a very nice 3.91 ERA while racking up 125 punch outs in 129 innings of work. It’s obvious that Warren can handle the workload.

Warren can touch the upper 90s on the radar gun, and though he’s being groomed as a starter, there remains a chance that he could wind up in the bullpen. Either way, if Warren has success early in 2023, don’t be shocked if the Yankees call upon the right-hander very soon.
