Week 1 was a complete disaster for the Packers. Here are five bold predictions about how Green Bay is going to bounce back against the Lions.

The Packers entered the 2021 regular season as legitimate Super Bowl contenders, but Aaron Rodgers and his teammates are reeling after a one-sided Week 1 loss to the Saints. That puts immense pressure on Green Bay to right the ship at home against the Lions in their Week 2 matchup.

A loss to Detroit could send the Packers’ season spiraling out of control. The narrative that Aaron Rodgers’ unhappiness with the front office have already torpedoed the team’s chances of being a title contender this season is already starting to makes its rounds.

The good news for Green Bay’s passionate fan base is that beating the Lions shouldn’t be all that difficult of a task. The victory may not be achieved in the way many Packers fans expect though. The following five bold predictions represent a circuitous path to victory for Matt LaFleur’s team.

5. Eric Stokes will play over Kevin King

It’s hard to point to any aspect of the Packers defense that didn’t endure a nightmare against New Orleans in Week 1. King was one of the biggest culprits. He looked absolutely lost in coverage against the Saints’ passing attack.

That’s why LaFleur should get the attention of his veterans by benching him in favor of Stokes this week. A changing of the guard at that cornerback spot at some point this season is inevitable. The disaster of Week 1 should give Green Bay’s coaching staff a chance to make the switch sooner than expected.
