Alexander Volkov talked about his recent loss to Tom Aspinall during the media day for his next bout.
Alexander Volkov is getting ready for his next walk to the UFC Octagon. He will be facing Jairzinho Rozenstruik as the main event of this weekend’s UFC Vegas 56. This fight is a relatively quick turnaround for Volkov who last fought in March.
His last outing resulted in a loss to Tom Aspinall in the main event of UFC London. Although he is getting ready for his next bout, Volkov was asked about the recent loss during media day on Wednesday. In a candid response, Volkov explained his preparedness for the UFC London event, both mentally and physically.
“Sometimes it happens, I don’t want to make an excuse for sure. My opponent was good Aspinall was really good fighter,” he said. “How I feel in the fight, he’ll have a big future. We’ll see how he goes in the future but no excuse, he was just better than me. I had a good shape for this fight. Everything was good, maybe some mental problems with all the things happening in the world, some you know, some of this but it’s the things that are happening in our sport. I have to be ready for this and I wasn’t so this way.”
Volkov is looking to get back in the win column against the dangerous Rozenstruik. Having lost two of his last three, he is currently sitting in the No. 7 spot in the rankings. he knows he will have to execute his game plan in order to continue his climb and work his way to a title shot. Volkov is planning to utilize his patience and use his technical striking to work his way to victory.
