Karim Benzema seem to put Real Madrid ahead of Liverpool in the Champions League final. Here’s a look at the controversial call.
Karim Benzema’s goal was disallowed Saturday right before halftime Saturday against Liverpool in the Champions League final.
Following a lengthy VAR review, Benzema was deemed to be in an offside position after putting the ball into the net in the 43rd minute following a scramble in front of the Liverpool goal.
The goal was disallowed because Benzema’s teammate Federico Valverde got a touch on the ball before the Frenchman put it in goal.
The match remained scoreless going into halftime.
Some on Twitter thought the goal should have stood. Others agreed with the call.
