Braves definitely in market for outfielder after latest Adam Duvall injury news

The Atlanta Braves are in need of a new outfielder after the latest Adam Duvall injury news.

With Adam Duvall’s 2022 MLB season officially coming to an end, the Atlanta Braves have a little over a week to add an outfielder to the mix before the Aug. 2 trade deadline.

Duvall was initially placed on the 10-day IL with a sprained left wrist on Sunday morning.

It would be revealed after the blowout loss to the Los Angeles Angels Duvall would need surgery.

Braves manager Brian Snitker did not know if it was of the season-ending variety initially.

However, Mark Bowman of would confirm that it was indeed season over for Duvall.

The good news is Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos does have an eye for outfield talent.

Without question, the Braves are 100 percent in the market for an outfielder at the trade deadline.

Atlanta Braves need to add an outfielder with Adam Duvall now needing surgery

Last July, Anthopoulos traded for Joc Pederson at the All-Star break with the Chicago Cubs once Ronald Acuña Jr.’s season was over with a torn ACL. At last year’s deadline, he added Duvall in a deal with the division rival Miami Marlins, Jorge Soler in a trade with the Kansas City Royals and Eddie Rosario in exchange for Pablo Sandoval with Cleveland. Atlanta would win the World Series.

While Acuña is healthy again, he has had an up-and-down season for the Braves. Rosario is just working his way back from an eye injury that kept him out for the better part of this season. Soler plays for the Marlins now. As for Pederson, he is on a one-year deal with his hometown San Francisco Giants. He would fit in absolutely perfectly for what this team needs in Duvall’s absence.

Ultimately, Atlanta is not in as dire of shape in the outfield as it was a year ago. A big reason for that is centerfielder Michael Harris II has been an NL Rookie of the Year candidate since being called up in June. Unfortunately, the Braves have a massively depleted farm system and are in need of bullpen relief, a back-of-the-rotation starting pitcher, and now a power-hitting outfielder.

Look for Anthopoulos to be incredibly active in the days leading up to Aug. 2’s MLB trade deadline.
