Jerry Jones torched Antonio Brown with simple reaction to WR’s Cowboys interest

Let’s just say that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has no interest in signing former Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

When it comes to the spotlight, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown always finds a way to step into it. Last week, Brown spoke with TMZ and said “tell Jerry Jones to call me.” The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver room is not as strong as it once was, but would they seriously consider bringing in the controversial wideout?

TMZ talked to Jones this week and asked if he would bring in Brown. The Cowboys owner responded with “we’re good,” and cited that they want to give their young wide receivers a shot.

Jerry Jones on Antonio Brown’s interest in Cowboys: ‘We’re good’

The last time Brown was on an NFL field, he notably took off his equipment and left MetLife Stadium in the middle of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ game against the New York Jets. He was later released by the team and has remained unsigned.

This offseason, the Cowboys opted to trade Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns, leaving CeeDee Lamb as the undisputed WR1 on the depth chart. Dallas also retained Michael Gallup on a five-year contract and brought in former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout James Washington for the 2022 season.

Gallup is not expected to be ready for the start of the 2022 campaign as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in Week 17 last season. Meanwhile, Washington suffered a fractured right foot back on Aug. 1 and is sidelined between 6-to-10 weeks at the time of the injury. That leaves the Cowboys relying on their young receivers, with Jalen Tolbert standing out.

Tolbert was selected in the third round of this year’s draft out of South Alabama. In each of his final two years in the program, Tolbert recorded over 1,000 receiving yards. Overall, Tolbert caught 178 passes for 3140 yards and 22 touchdowns in four seasons.

Other wide receivers on the depth chart include Simi Fehoko and Dennis Houston.

Even with the injuries on the Cowboys, Jones is not exactly interested in bringing Brown in.
