Maryland vs. Michigan State prediction and odds for Tuesday, February 7 (Trust Sparty at home)

Two Big Ten foes do battle in East Lansing on Tuesday night.

Michigan State couldn’t hold onto a second half lead against Rutgers on the road over the weekend, but they return home to face a Maryland team that has struggled a ton away from home this season.

Can Sparty get back on track or will the Terps notch their best road win of the season?

Let’s check out the odds:

Maryland vs. Michigan State odds, spread and total

Maryland vs. Michigan State prediction and pick

Maryland has won two true road games this season, against Louisville and Minnesota, two of the worst high major teams in the country, and now face a formidable Michigan State team.

The real issue for Maryland is their inability to shoot from the perimeter, below 31% on the year, which is outside the top 300 nationally. The team has upped their ball pressure, third in generating turnovers in conference play, but Michigan State’s going to be able to get into the teeth of the defense with AJ Hoggard and Tyson Walker each playing at their best in Big Ten play.

The Terps concerns on the road are a serious issue and I don’t think we see it get any better on Tuesday night with the Spartans in line for a bounce back performance where they scored only 55 points at Madison Square Garden against an elite defense in Rutgers. The Spartans have been a devastating three-point shooting team, nearly 37% on the year, and should get some fine looks against an aggressive Maryland defense.

I’ll lay the small number with the home team.
