Nikita Krylov doesn’t get paid by the hour, TKO’ing Alexander Gustafsson in a dramatically fast fashion.
Nikita Krylov is a household name right now, knocking out Alexander Gustafsson in a shockingly quick fashion at UFC London. The Ukrainian knocked out the Swede in 1:07 in the first round. The fight wasn’t going Gustafsson’s way at any point in the fight, all 67 seconds of it. Krylov had Gustafsson against the cage early and often with a barrage of punches, before Gustafsson tried to ride out the damage in the clinch.
It didn’t work.
Eventually, the flurry of strikes would put Gustafsson on the ground, leaving the ref no choice but to call the fight.
It may be time for Alexander Gustafsson to hang them up
Gustafsson really looked bad from the get-go. He was slow to react, he offered up no offense of his own and at one point he not only ducked his head into a high kick but also tried to avoid a strike and went face first into Krylov’s knee.
It seems his instincts are gone, and his ability to react to strikes is greatly diminished. He’s a grinder of an offensive fighter, not known for his big power, so it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be able to right the ship. After taking two years off, and losing now, his last four fights, there’s no reason to think the “old” Gustafsson is coming back.
