Kayla Harrison makes emphatic statement after finishing Martina Jindrova in their PFL Playoffs bout to advance to yet another PFL title fight
Already the appointed face of the Professional Fighters League, Kayla Harrison continues to leave her mark on the promotion with her submission over Martina Jindrova in the PFL Playoffs.
Harrison will now meet Larissa Pacheco in the women’s lightweight championship bout. The two fought one another twice in the 2019 season, including in that year’s women’s lightweight title fight, with Harrison winning by unanimous decision both times.
It’s also the third time Harrison will be competing in a PFL championship bout, joining only Ray Cooper III in that club (Harrison competed in 2018 but women’s lightweight was not a championship division in PFL at that point). If Harrison wins, she will become the only PFL fighter to be a back-to-back-to-back champ.
“I’m here to tell you that I am the queen — not of the PFL, not of the 155-pound division — but I am the queen of women’s MMA!” Harrison said in her post-fight interview. “And if those three Brazilians would take off their track shoes and meet me, then you’d find out!”
Kayla Harrison reaches PFL women’s lightweight finals yet again after submitting Martina Jindrova in PFL Playoffs
After about a minute of the two feeling each other out and throwing strikes around the cage, Harrison caught a kick from Jindrova and took her to the mat, immediately hopping into side control.
Harrison slowly worked Jindrova over on the ground, looking for submissions while transitioning. Eventually, Harrison made her way into full mount and locked in an arm-triangle, scoring yet another first-round submission to clinch her championship spot again.
