Entering the PFL Playoffs on just days’ notice has paid off wonders for Dilano Taylor, as he makes fairly quick work of Rory MacDonald to secure a spot with Sabidou Sy in the PFL 2022 welterweight championship contest
Dilano Taylor has been having a year to remember after earning a spot on the PFL roster, and it continued into the PFL Playoffs.
Just days after accepting a short-notice bout to enter the PFL postseason, Taylor pulled off a fairly easy win over Rory MacDonald to place himself one fight away from the 2022 PFL welterweight title.
The two started the fight by battling in close, with Taylor getting a takedown almost immediately and keeping MacDonald on the ground for a couple of minutes.
Even when the fight got back to the feet, Taylor was getting the better of MacDonald in terms of striking. Taylor then dropped MacDonald with a right and finished him with ground-and-pound.

MacDonald’s performance during the regular season saw him score a first-round submission over Brett Cooper before dropping a decision to Sadibou Sy in upset fashion. MacDonald made the semifinals of last year’s PFL welterweight championship tournament as well, where he lost to Ray Cooper, who’d go on to win his second consecutive PFL welterweight title.
Taylor was a substitute opponent after Magomed Umalatov was forced off the card due to visa issues. After defeating Mark Martin in the Challenger Series to earn a spot on the roster, Taylor scored a decision over Joao Zeferino before being finished by former champion Magomed Magomedkerimov.
