Ronald Acuña’s reaction after Braves swept the Mets is everything (Video)

The Atlanta Braves swept the New York Mets over the weekend, and with it now control their NL East destiny as the regular season winds to a close. How did Ronald Acuña react?

Power hitting beats power pitching, or at least that’s what the Braves learned this weekend. Atlanta ran right through the likes of Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt at Truist Park, with Matt Olson, Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley bringing the lumber.

Mets slugger Brandon Nimmo said it best on Saturday night: “Those are our best shots and they stuffed them in our face.”

And that was with New York still having a game to play the next night — one last chance to take the season series and start from square one. Instead, the Mets lost that season series and left Atlanta with a two-game NL East deficit. Yikes.

Braves: Ronald Acuña’s reaction to sweeping Mets

Atlanta’s magic number is down to 1 game, and they head straight to Miami to face the Marlins on Monday. That three-game set will end the season. In order for Atlanta to lose the division, they would need to get swept by the Marlins and the Mets would have to sweep their final three games against the Washington Nationals. The Braves, as previously mentioned, own the tiebreaker.

So, how did Ronald Acuña react to the biggest moment of the Braves’ 2022 season?

Damn right.

While Acuña has a World Series ring, he didn’t play a major role in the Braves 2021 postseason run. It’s part of what made Atlanta’s eventual victory all the more improbable — they were missing one of their best players in Acuña.

For the Venezuelan outfielder, 2022 represents a chance to lead his own team to mountaintop, rather than watch the likes of Freddie Freeman do so from the dugout.
