Twitter reacts to the cancellation of Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr.

Twitter memes and reactions were readily available after Jake Paul’s next fight was called off a week before it was scheduled.

Jake Paul’s sixth fight must be cursed, as it has had a rough time getting off the ground. Originally destined to clash with Tommy Fury, that bout was canceled two separate times this year. Then, after Fury stepped away from the negotiation table, Hasim Rahman Jr., a former sparring partner of Paul’s, stepped up to fill the bout.

However, a week before that bout was scheduled to take place, the fight has been waved off. According to a press release from Most Valuable Promotions (a company Jake Paul owns), Rahman had struggled to cut weight, resulting in the New York State Athletic Commission refusing to sanction the fight at anything less than 205 pounds, five pounds above the previously agreed upon weight. Paul and his team were reportedly willing to compromise to make the fight happen, however, according to MVP’s release, Rahman’s team would not compromise to any weight less than 215.

Twitter had jokes and hot takes after Jake Paul’s next fight was canceled

Firstly, Jake Paul released a statement about the cancelation via Twitter, calling out Rahman for unprofessionalism. Rahman and his team are yet to release a statement.

Then, Twitter does what it does best: make memes.

The WBC had announced, leading up to this bout, that Jake Paul would officially earn a top 40 ranking if he were to beat Rahman, a decision that some boxing fans were very hesitant about. However, with the bout canceled and refunds being sent out, Paul will have to wait to earn that coveted WBC ranking.
