Actress Rosario Dawson registers voters in Tustin

Actress and activist Rosario Dawson helped register voters in Tustin on Sunday, July 17.

Dawson has long spearheaded voter outreach efforts. She is the co-founder of Vote Latino, a grassroots voter education and empowerment organization.

California residents who need to register to vote can do so online at: Individuals will need a California driver’s license or identification card number, the last four digits of their social security number, and date of birth to register online. People can still register online without a California driver’s license or ID — albeit, there will be additional steps.

For the upcoming general election on Nov. 8, Californians must be registered to vote online or have the required forms postmarked by Oct. 24. Individuals can also conditionally register and vote at their county elections office after that date.

Sunday’s registration drive was held by Asif Mahmood, a Democrat who is challenging incumbent GOP Rep. Young Kim in the 40th District. About 65 people attended the event, and 25 were registered, a campaign spokesperson said.
