A crash involving two cars on eastbound state Route 52 in the University City area early Monday prompted a vehicle rescue and led to the traffic alert, officials said.
Two sedans collided shortly after 8:30 a.m. on east SR-52 and blocked access to the ramp to Regents Road, according to a California Highway Patrol online log.
Emergency crews responded to extricate at least one driver from one of the cars involved in the crash, according to the log.
A CHP dispatcher said the ramp from westbound SR-52 to southbound Regents Road and the eastbound SR-52 offramp at Regents were both closed. The closure was expected to be in place for at least two hours.
San Diego police said the crash resulted in “major injuries” to at least one person.
A San Diego Fire-Rescue crew arrived at 8:41 a.m. in response to a vehicle rescue call.
