A 28-year-old El Cajon woman was killed early Sunday when the driver of an SUV struck her as she was crossing a street in the unincorporated community of Bostonia near El Cajon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
She was struck shortly before 1:30 a.m. by a 20-year-old man driving a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander east on East Bradley Avenue just west of North Mollison Avenue, said CHP Sgt. Millan Mateo. The woman died before she could be taken to a hospital.
The driver was not injured and stopped after the collision. He remained at the scene to talk with investigators. The collision is still under investigation but officers don’t believe drugs and alcohol were a factor, Mateo said.
A man who said he was the victim’s boyfriend told OnScene TV that she was following him across the road when she was hit by the SUV. Witnesses told OnScene that section of East Bradley is very dark.
The CHP did not provide the Union-Tribune with further details on the crash.
