Enchirito wins Taco Bell’s comeback contest and will return Nov. 17

Taco Bell will return the Enchirito to its menu for a limited time following a poll it held on its app to see which retired menu item it should bring back.

The Enchirito beat out the Double Decker Taco in polling that took place Sept. 27-Oct. 6. The Irvine-based chain announced the winner Friday morning, Oct. 7.

The Enchirito was introduced in 1970, but hasn’t been on Taco Bell’s menu since 2013. It is a mixture of beef and beans wrapped in a soft flour tortilla and drenched in red sauce. Back in the day it was topped with three artfully arranged olive slices, but current photos only show melted cheese.

It will be available Nov. 17-30, according to a news release.

More then 760,000 app users participated in the promotion, and the Enchirito got 62% of the votes, the news release said.
