Ex-Angels slugger Albert Pujols lists Irvine mansion for $10M

Last week, baseball great Albert Pujols put his Spanish revival-inspired mansion in Irvine’s guard-gated Shady Canyon on the market for $9.98 million.

As of Feb. 6, a sale is pending.

Completed in 2010, the five-bedroom, 9,239-square-foot residence with eight bathrooms features three stories, from the entertainment and wellness area on the basement level to a dedicated office space with built-ins on the top floor. Pujols picked up the house for $5.55 million in May 2012, records show.

Views of the surrounding canyon and community abound from the hilltop property, which sits at the end of a cul-de-sac on a half-acre lot. In the backyard is a recently remodeled pool with a Baja step, slide, grotto, waterfall and spa.

The home’s interior has a gourmet kitchen that opens to the family room. On that same entry-level are a formal dining room, a living room and a primary retreat with a sitting room, two walk-in closets and a luxury bathroom centered around a soaking tub.

In the basement, a movie theater and the wet bar share space with a meditation room.

A four-car garage “perfect for any car aficionado” rounds out the offering.
