Escondido police arrested a 35-year-old man after a woman was shot in the abdomen at an apartment complex Sunday night, a police sergeant said.
Just after 10:20 p.m., someone called police to report hearing gunfire during an argument at the complex on West Lincoln Avenue near North Escondido Boulevard, Sgt. Mike Graesser said.
Authorities found the victim and took her to a hospital. The wound does not appear to be life-threatening, Graesser said.
The suspect was later arrested at his apartment in a different complex, a few blocks north on North Escondido Boulevard.
According to jail records, he was booked into custody on suspicion of assault with a firearm and was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
