Man suspected of shooting person with airsoft gun in P.B.

San Diego police arrested a 23-year-old man Wednesday morning on suspicion of shooting another person with an airsoft gun at a gas station in Pacific Beach, authorities said.

Police received a call just after 8 a.m. reporting that someone had been shot at the gas station on Mission Bay Drive and Garnet Avenue. The victim suffered a minor cut.

Officers tracked down the suspect nearby, and he was arrested about an hour later, Officer David O’Brien said.

Police were told that before the shooting, the man had gone to a nearby McDonald’s, where he had previously worked to get his final paycheck. Witnesses said the man was threatening people with the airsoft gun, O’Brien said.

After leaving the McDonald’s, he went to a gas station adjacent to the restaurant. Police said an argument broke out between the man and another person, and the man shot the individual with the airsoft gun.

The suspect was arrested around 9 a.m. on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a replica of a firearm, robbery, petty theft and possession of a controlled substance.
