Motorcyclist seriously injured in Egger Highlands crash

A 69-year-old motorcyclist sustained several fractures to his left leg in a Thursday evening crash in San Diego’s Egger Highlands neighborhood, police said.

It happened about 6:50 p.m. on Coronado Avenue a little east of Imperial Beach, where the rider was heading east near 16th Street on a 2003 Honda Shadow, Officer Robert Heims said in a news release.

As the rider approached the intersection, a 64-year-old man driving a 2002 Toyota Corolla in the opposite direction made a turn in front of the motorcyclist, Heims said. The rider struck the car as it crossed his path.

Paramedics too the victim to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that included the multiple leg breaks, Heims said. The Toyota’s driver and his two passengers were not injured, and neither drugs nor alcohol were considered factors in the crash.
