A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after a Border Patrol agent turned his vehicle into the rider’s path in San Ysidro Wednesday afternoon, San Diego police said Thursday.
The crash happened at the East Beyer Boulevard and Otay Mesa Road intersection about 4 p.m.
The 59-year-old motorcyclist was headed south on Otay Mesa and had a green light when he drove into the intersection, police said. The Border Patrol agent also had a green light when he made a left in front of the rider.
The motorcyclist struck the right rear door of the patrol vehicle, and suffered injuries include a broken pelvis and a dislocated femur, according to police.
He was taken to a hospital for surgery — his injuries weren’t considered life-threatening, police said.
The department’s Traffic Division is investigating the crash.
