National City man, 19, fatally stabbed near Imperial Beach Pier

A 19-year-old National City man was fatally stabbed late Thursday night near the Imperial Beach Pier, sheriff’s officials said.

Victor Josue Villa Perez was stabbed and gravely wounded about 11:25 p.m. near the entrance to the pier off Seacoast Drive near Evergreen Avenue, San Diego sheriff’s homicide Lt. Chris Steffen wrote in a news release.

Deputies responding to the reported stabbing found Villa Perez with a wound to his “upper torso,” Steffen wrote. Paramedics took him to a hospital, but doctors were unable save the teen’s life.

No information about a suspect in the slaying was available Friday, according to Steffen, who wrote that homicide detectives were still investigating the circumstances that led up to the stabbing and the motivation for the attack.

Anyone with information about the homicide was asked to call the sheriff’s homicide unit at (858) 285-6330, the department’s non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
