Orange County girls water polo Top 10: Foothill, Orange Lutheran top rankings for CIF, Feb. 6

1. Foothill (21-4): The Knights, seeded No. 1 in the Open Division, play host to Corona del Mar in the first round Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to kickoff a CIF doubleheader at their pool.

2. Orange Lutheran (22-2): The Lancers received the No. 2 seed in the Open Division and a third match with Mater Dei. The Trinity League rivals will face off Thursday at Foothill High at 6:40 p.m.

3. Los Alamitos (21-7): The Surf League champion plays host to league rival Newport Harbor in the match of the night Thursday in the Open Division. The ball drops at 6 p.m.

4. Laguna Beach (18-8): The Breakers will be the home team against San Marcos in the Open Division on Thursday at a site to be announced.

Previous ranking: 4

5. Newport Harbor (20-7): The Sailors have won two of three matches against Los Alamitos, including a 7-4 triumph last week.

Previous ranking: 5

6. Mater Dei (16-10): The Monarchs like the way they matchup with Orange Lutheran but can they pull off the upset? Orange Lutheran is 2-0 in the series this season.

7. Corona del Mar (19-8): The reigning CIF-SS Division 1 champion was selected to the Open Division but drew top-seeded Foothill.

8. Santa Margarita (14-11): The Eagles earned the No. 2 seed to Long Beach Wilson in Division 1. They open at Mira Costa on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
