Owens Corning follows up Santa Clara plant closure with job cuts

SANTA CLARA — Owens Corning has followed up on its disclosures from a year ago that it would close its Santa Clara factory with a revelation that the company will chop hundreds of jobs at the soon-to-shut plant.

The maker of fiberglass, insulation and roofing products said in mid-2021 that it would cease operations at the Santa Clara plant, which is located at 960 Central Expressway in Santa Clara.

The resulting layoffs will eliminate 225 jobs at the Santa Clara plant that Owens Corning operates, according to an official notice that the company filed with the state Employment Development Department.

The plant is slated to close sometime around Halloween of this year, the EDD filing states.
