The man who was struck and killed over the weekend after he walked into traffic on Interstate 15 in the Scripps Ranch area was identified as 19-year-old Christian Faeldan Soriano, county officials said.
The San Diego resident was seen walking along the right shoulder of the north side of the freeway near Carroll Canyon Road at about 5:35 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
For unknown reasons, Soriano walked into oncoming traffic and was struck by a white Freightliner semi-truck, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Soriano died before he could be taken to a hospital, the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the semi remained at the scene and spoke with officers, according to authorities.
