Pedestrian fatally struck by train in Sorento Valley

SAN DIEGO — 

A pedestrian was fatally struck by an AMTRAK train near the Sorrento Valley train station early Sunday, sheriff’s officials said.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. along Sorrento Valley Road north of Sorrento Valley Boulevard.

The unidentified person died before being taken to a hospital. The county Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the manner of death.
