A pedestrian was hit by a train and killed in the Middletown neighborhood of San Diego Saturday morning, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The collision involving a northbound Coaster train was reported at 9:30 a.m. in a restricted area of railroad track near Sassafras Street, near Interstate 5.
Deputies with the sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit, which investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District, responded and found the victim. No information about the gender or age of the pedestrian was released, pending notification of family.
The manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
