Pedestrian killed in Vista crash

VISTA — 

A driver in an SUV struck and killed a man in Vista Friday night, sheriff’s officials said.

The collision happened near the intersection of Taylor Street and Cresthaven Drive about 8 p.m.

The victim was crossing the road just east of the intersection when the driver, headed west on Taylor in a Ford Escape, struck him, sheriff’s officials said. The man was taken to a hospital where he died.

The driver stopped after the crash and cooperated with deputies, according to the department. It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The Vista sheriff’s substation is investigating the incident.
