Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicles on Interstate 805 in San Ysidro

A pedestrian was struck by several vehicles and killed on Interstate 805 in San Ysidro on Friday night, a California Highway Patrol official said Sunday.
The pedestrian — whose age was not released — was walking in the traffic lanes on south I-805 near Beyer Boulevard about 8:55 p.m. when a Kia sedan struck him, CHP Officer Jesse Matias said.
Other vehicles — it was unknown how many — also hit the pedestrian, Matias said.
The Kia driver, a 22-year-old San Diego woman, stayed at the scene. She was not injured.
Investigators do not suspect she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Matias said.
The officer said toxicology reports were pending to determine whether the pedestrian was intoxicated. His name was withheld, pending notification of his family.
Several freeway lanes were closed for about two hours during the investigation.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the CHP at (858) 293-6000.
