Pedestrian struck, seriously injured in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE —
A driver struck and seriously injured a pedestrian Friday night in Oceanside, prompting the closure of North El Camino Real just north of state Route 76, police said.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on El Camino Real near Coco Palms Drive, according to police. It was not immediately clear how the crash occurred, but the victim, a man, was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene, a police sergeant said. Traffic investigators responded and officers shut down El Camino Real at Los Arbolitos Boulevard and Coco Palms Drive.
