Authorities on Monday released the name of a pilot who died after he was seriously injured in a plane crash at Montgomery Field over the weekend.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as 46-year-old Andre Roosevelt Green of San Diego.
Just before noon Saturday, air traffic controllers called 911 after the Cirrus SR20 went down in the northwest corner of the Kearny Mesa airport, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Chief John Fisher said.
Crews quickly arrived from the fire station across the street and found Green trapped in the wreckage, Fisher told OnScene TV. He was the only person on the plane.
Green was extricated and taken to a hospital, where he died.
According to FlightAware, a flight tracking website, the small aircraft had taken several short flights — from five to eight minutes long — starting around 10:40 a.m. Saturday. The aircraft took off again at 11:50 a.m. and crashed 5 minutes later.
