A person was shot and gravely injured Thursday night at a residence in Ramona, sheriff’s officials said.
Few details of the shooting were immediately available, but it happened about 7 p.m. at a dwelling on La Brea Street between Pala and Day streets, San Diego sheriff’s Lt. Scott Roller said.
The victim was taken to a hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries, Roller said. It was not immediately clear what led up to the gunfire.
Deputies did not have a shooter in custody as of late Thursday night, Roller said. Detectives from the Ramona substation were investigation, but the sheriff’s homicide unit had also been notified.
La Brea Street, where the shooting occurred, runs north of and parallel to Main Street, behind several businesses and fast food restaurants that populate the main thoroughfare near Ramona Street.
No other details were immediately available Thursday night.
