Shooting leaves one dead in San Diego’s Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood

One person was fatally shot Friday afternoon in southeastern San Diego’s Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood, authorities said.

The shooting was reported around 1:30 p.m. on Sabre Street between Jacumba Street and Sawtelle Avenue, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Police officers notified firefighters that “there was a patient lying in the street and that the patient was deceased,” Fire-Rescue Department spokesperson Mónica Muñoz said in a statement.

Firefighters and paramedics were cleared to enter the scene around 1:40 p.m. and confirmed the death. There were no other patients, Muñoz said.

No other details were immediately available.
