The 68-year-old woman who was found dead in the backseat of her vehicle in the Egger Highlands community over the weekend was identified as Malia Henderson, San Diego police officials said Tuesday.
A woman called police about 10:15 a.m. Saturday after she saw Henderson’s body in a vehicle in front of Henderson’s home on Bubbling Well Drive, police said.
When officers arrived, they tried to speak with Henderson’s 37-year-old son, who was inside the home, but he refused to come out, police said. Officers eventually entered the house and detained him without further incident.
Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, homicide detectives were also called to investigate. The cause of Henderson’s death has not been determined, but no traumatic injuries were seen on her body.
Anyone with information about the death was asked to call the the department’s homicide unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (888) 580-8477.
