A Rebels bikie associate has been charged with murder over the shooting death of Joseph Versace at a workshop in Perth last week.
Police revealed on Tuesday that Homicide Squad detectives had charged Joshua Colin Duperouzel, 25, over the death of Mr Versace, 34, in Gnangara on September 29.
The Swan View man will face Perth Magistrates Court later on Tuesday.
His arrest comes after police appealed for public assistance to find him on Monday.
Mr Duperouzel was arrested at a riverside park in Belmont less than two hours later, after reportedly walking up to a woman and asking her for a sandwich.
He allegedly told the woman he was “wanted” by police and he was keen to “hand himself in”, The West Australian reported.
Mr Duperouzel was taken to hospital but it is understood he was not injured and was released later in the day.
Detective Inspector Quentin Flatman said police were examining a black BMW X5 that was found abandoned on a rural road in Glen Forrest about two hours after Mr Versace was killed.
Commissioner of Police Col Blanch told reporters days earlier that the shooting was a targeted attack in a confined area.
“The community must feel safe, so if people think that they can in cold blood shoot people in WA then the police will be coming for them,” he said.
