Rockingham’s latest women’s only gym JL QuickFit (Just Ladies QuickFit) hosted an open day on the weekend to celebrate its arrival after COVID delayed its grand opening.
The JL QuickFit studio focuses on showing women how to lift weights and the many benefits that can come with incorporating this into a healthy lifestyle.
Personal trainer and mother of two Jessica Kenny was inspired to create JL QuickFit after her fitness journey changed her life in more ways than one.
“The thing that drove me and continues to drive me is creating a place where women can come together and feel connected and be reminded of just how uniquely incredible and strong, they are,” Ms Kenny said.
“Even though I’ve generally always been a positive person, for most of my life, I felt less than and lonely until fitness changed that.”
Ms Kenny said strength training transformed her life and she wanted to show others what it could do for them too.
“Feeling strong and showing up every week is one of the greatest feelings to experience, and weight training does that,” she said.
“As for being ladies I grew up learning that women are a threat, that we should feel this need to compete with each other and be jealous, but for me, it simply didn’t sit right so it became my mission to uplift women, show that we are meant to support, encourage and empower one another.”
Ms Kenny said she hoped to inspire women to move their bodies, eat and drink things that support their health and feel a sense of belonging without judgement so they can move throughout their day-to-day activities with a sense happiness.
