2021 bowl projections: UNC projected to play SEC team in Duke’s Mayo Bowl

The North Carolina Tar Heels are projected to face off against an SEC team this bowl season. Here’s who the Tar Heels might face in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

The North Carolina Tar Heels collapsed on the road against the NC State Wolfpack, but they’re still bowl eligible this year. Mack Brown’s bunch may have underachieved a bit this season, but the Tar Heels’ year isn’t over just yet.

North Carolina might not have to travel too far to face off against an SEC foe for their bowl game. Despite that frustrating rivalry loss to the Wolfpack, the Tar Heels might just get a crack at facing off against Sam Pittman and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

North Carolina bowl projections: Tar Heels vs. Arkansas Razorbacks in 2021 Duke’s Mayo Bowl

According to Brett McMurphy of the Action Network, that’s who the Tar Heels will play against. And it looks like they might have a pretty good geographic advantage over the Razorbacks as McMurphy most recently projected the Tar Heels to make the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, which will take place on Thursday, Dec. 30 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Depending on how interested North Carolina fans are, that could pretty much be a home game for the Tar Heels.

Of course, a heartbreaking loss and a disappointing season may have soured some fans who would otherwise consider going.

Knowing how much excitement about their team’s success Arkansas fans have right now, expect a good amount of support for the Razorbacks with whatever bowl they end up at. It would be a shame for North Carolina fans to be outnumbered if this matchup happens though.
