Sad Yankees fan wants Joey Gallo gone by any means necessary

[ad_1]

This New York Yankees fan does not want anything to do with struggling outfielder Joey Gallo.

Last year, outfielder Joey Gallo was one of the New York Yankees‘ trade deadline acquisitions to make a push for the World Series. One year later, the Yankees faithful want nothing to do with the strikeout-prone, home run or bust Gallo. That was evident by a brutal pinch hit situation against the New York Mets on July 26, where manager Aaron Boone inexplicably put him in the game to replace Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the eighth-inning, only to watch him strike out at the hands of Mets closer Edwin Diaz.

One Yankees fan who owned a No. 13 jersey, seemingly blocked out Gallo’s name with painter’s tape. Written on the tape was “not Gallo.”

Yankees fans fed up with struggling Joey Gallo

If you wanted a reaction of Gallo entering the game as a pinch hitter in place of Kiner-Falefa, who was 2-for-3 in the game, take a look at this video, courtesy of TikTok user @peter_calabrese. Warning, there is a lot of swearing in this video from this fan, who could not believe “this atrocity.”

Throughout his career, Gallo has shown that while he can hit home runs, he is highly susceptible to striking out. He struck out over 200 times twice in his career (2018, 2021), with his 213 last season being a league-high. Not only that, but the highest batting average he has accumulated in a season was .253 in 2019. All other times, he has hit slightly above .200 or way below the mark.

This season, Gallo is batting .161, owns an OPS of .629, hit 12 home runs, knocked in 24 runs, and struck out 103 times through 80 games.

Gallo becomes an unrestricted free agent at season’s end. While he was linked to trade rumors this season, the return will not be much. Either way, there are Yankees fans that can not wait until he is no longer on the team.
