Bay Area, California both gain jobs in May, but slowdown intensifies

[ad_1]

The Bay Area and California both added jobs in May as they continued to recover from coronavirus-linked maladies — but for the third month in a row, the employment gains were weaker than the prior month.

Employers added 6,900 jobs in the Bay Area during May, bolstered by gains in Santa Clara County, the East Bay and the San Francisco-San Mateo region, according to a report from the state Employment Development Department.

California gained 42,900 jobs in May, the state labor agency reported on Friday.
